All County Government offices, courts, animal shelter, libraries and the landfill will be closed for the Christmas Day holiday. There will be no trash or recycling collection on Christmas Day; however, those with Thursday trash and recycling will have their items collected the following day, Friday, December 26. Parking meters are free on Christmas Day. Howard Transit buses will not operate on Christmas Day, but will resume regular service on Friday, December 26. The libraries and the landfill will re-open on Friday, December 26 as well. Police, Fire and the 9-1-1 Center remain open and staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
