Disaster Volunteer Trainings and Information Sessions

Spring is just around the corner, a time to prepare gardens, yards, change the battery in your smoke detector and review your family’s disaster plans. Please consider adding the following trainings to further enhance your family’s and our community’s resilience: Please feel free to share this information with others who may be interested. Thursday, March 12, 2009 and/or Wednesday, April 1, 2009 from 6:30-7:30 pm – General Disaster Volunteer Orientation – Identify ways you can prepare today to serve in times of disaster or an emergency. Learn which agencies may require additional volunteers after a disaster. Call 410-715-3179 or email pam@volunteerhoward.org to register or to obtain more information.

Tuesday, March 24, 2009 from 6:30-8:30 PM – Disaster Volunteer Mobilization Training. Following an incident many individuals may wish to volunteer. The Volunteer Center, at the request of Howard County’s Department of Citizen Services, will assist with the registration and referral of these spontaneous volunteers to registered agencies requesting volunteers.

Red Cross training that supports ARC mass care and bulk distribution efforts.
