Howard County’s Department of Planning and Zoning has proposed amendments to the Route 1 Manual. The Manual guides land development in the Route 1 Corridor, which is defined as all land east of I-95 in Howard County. The amendments reflect changes in the Zoning Regulations, acknowledge the establishment of the Design Advisory Panel and include recommendations from the Maryland State Highway Administration’s US 1 Corridor Improvement Strategy report. The Strategy recommends changes in the US 1 right-of-way width and streetscape design. These changes are listed in a Summary of Proposed Route 1 Manual Changes. The Route 1 Manual is expected to be reviewed and considered by the County Council for adoption this spring.
