Savage Neighborhood Watch Encourages Savage Residents, Churches, Businesses and Others to Host Small Neighborhood Block Parties for National Night Out

This year, National Night Out will be on Tuesday, August 4, 2009. Instead of one large event, like Savage held last year, this year the Neighborhood Watch team would like to focus on small neighborhood functions. Each smaller neighborhood in Savage can plan unique functions such as cookouts, desserts socials, ice cream socials or small block parties. The goal is to:
-Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
-Generate support for and participation in location anticrime programs.
-Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
-Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back

Each National Night Out neighborhood should submit an RSVP to the Howard County Police Department. Check back soon for a link to that form.

Registration is required by 7/15/09. Forms will be available on this site soon or from a Neighborhood Watch member.

large gatherings are nice, but small groups of localized neighbors is a great idea to help folks watch out for each other; especially all the seniors in the community.
