Maryland Job Service Offers Free Workshops for Job Seekers

COLUMBIA - The Columbia Workforce Center, a division of Maryland’s Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, is offering free workshops to assist job seekers with their employment search. Seating is limited, so people are encouraged to call ahead to reserve a space.

February Workshops:
Early Intervention: February 1, 9, 16 and 23 (9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.)

One day job search workshop. Topics include: resumes, cover letters, networking, interviews and coping with unemployment. Call 410-290-2607 to reserve a space.

Professional Outplacement Assistance Center Jump-Start: February 3-4, 10-11, 18-19 and 24-25 (9a.m. – 4p.m.)

A 2-day, interactive program designed for Professional, Executive, Technical and Managerial individuals. It offers an opportunity for staff and participants to share information on timely issues related to the job acquisition process and the development of income streams. One Stop Orientation: February 8 and 22 (9:30 -10:30 a.m.)

Provides an overview of the job search services provided at the Howard County One-Stop Center.

Federal Job Search Process: February 12 (9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.)

Learn how to analyze job announcements. Understand how a federal resume differs from private-industry resumes and study examples of how to best present experience and skills. Call 410-290-2630 to register.

Maximizing Your Internet Job Search: February 8 (1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.)

Live demonstration, website review, tips for Internet privacy, key words, online application dos and don’ts etc. Learn this and more in this session. Call 410-290-2630 to reserve a space.

Resume Writing and Interview Techniques: February 26 (9:00 -12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.)
