Our County Executive - Note to Savage Residents - Tuesday AM 02/10/10

From County Executive Ken Ulman:

Dear Neighbors,

Thank you for your continued patience as Howard County endures this ongoing unprecedented winter weather. The National Weather Service is predicting an additional 10-20 inches of snow through Wednesday from the current storm.

County road crews have begun treating our roadways and will transition to plowing today. We ask that you stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary. If you must drive, use extreme caution and drive slowly. Visibility is very poor, and sight distance at intersections is obstructed by snow piles.

Continue to check in on your neighbors and help those in need of assistance. If you have an urgent situation, you can call our hotline at 410-313-2900, and if there's a life safety emergency, dial 911.

County Government will be closed on Wednesday, February 10. Other closings of note for today include the Howard County Public School System, Howard Community College, our libraries, senior centers and all Columbia Association facilities. In addition, there will be no trash or recycling service today.

We appreciate your patience during this time and hope to recover from this storm as quickly as possible. Please take a moment to share this message with your friends, family and neighbors, as well.

Ken Ulman
County Executive
