Through August 14 – Howard County Fair

You still have a few days left to enjoy the Howard County Fair! It runs through Saturday, August 14, ending at 11:00pm, at the Howard County Fairgrounds, 2210 Fairground Road, West Friendship, MD. Come for carnival rides, livestock shows, the Parade of Floats (at 5:00pm on Saturday) and more! Admission is $5.00 for 10 to 61 years, and $2.00 for seniors, 62 and older

August 17 and 18 – Pedestrian and Bicycle Study Meetings

Next week, there will be two public meetings to present initial findings of a grant-funded study of pedestrian and bicycling activity at selected locations. In addition to data collection, the study’s purpose is to develop preliminary solutions for some of the potentially most hazardous locations and gather input from the public. Meetings will be held:

Tuesday, August 17, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Miller Branch of the Howard County Public Library

Locations to be discussed:

• US 40 at the following locations: Normandy Center/Normandy Woods Drive, North Ridge Rd., St.Johns Lane, North Chatham Rd., Centennial/Bethany Lane

Wednesday, August 18, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Savage Branch of the Howard County Public Library

Locations to be discussed:

• US 1 at the following locations: Davis Ave, Brewer’s Court, Guilford Rd., Crestmount Rd, MD 175, Rowanberry Drive, and Montgomery Road.

• Snowden River Parkway at the following locations: Broken Land Parkway, Minstrel Way, Carved Stone Way, and Lincoln Tech

September 12 – Police Pace 5K Race

The Howard County Police Pace 5K race is coming up soon! For race enthusiasts, there are a few new things this year - A course certification by United States Track and Field (USATF), chip timing, and Performance Shirts and Medals for the various 50 awards categories.

Join us on Sunday, September 12, at Centennial Park for this great family event. All proceeds from the race are dedicated to the scholarship program that benefits the children of officers killed or injured in the line of duty and two scholarships that are awarded each year to deserving Howard County Seniors.

September 14 - Career Fair

The Howard County Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the Columbia Workforce Center, HoCoHRS to host a job fair at the Turf Valley Resort and Conference Center on Tuesday, September 14, from 10:00am to 2:00pm. For more information, go to Career Fest.
