Howard County Police are investigating an assault with a knife that occurred yesterday in Laurel. Detectives are looking into whether the suspect may be someone known to the victim or her family.
Police were called to the 8700 block of Cresthill Ct. and found the victim, 44-year-old Adrienne Clyburn Leach, suffering from a laceration to her face. Leach told police she was confronted by an unknown assailant in her living room around 7 a.m. The suspect immediately cut her in the face before running away. Leach was transported to Howard County General Hospital for treatment. Family members were home at the time and called 911 when they heard Leach call for help.
Police searched for the suspect after the assault using K-9 units and a police helicopter, but did not locate the assailant.
Detectives are continuing to search for the suspect, described only as wearing dark clothing with a hood. Police have no further description and cannot confirm the suspect’s gender or race.
